Be Happy with Trifecta this Christmas

Edward Fruitman No Comments

While Hollywood films and TV shows might paint life to be a fairy tale, with every single problem having a happy outcome, reality really isn’t that simple. Sometimes we have problems which are difficult to deal with, and we really can’t see a way out. Of course, there are some facets of these films and TV shows are true, because if find the strength to reach out and ask for help, you can find an avenue and road towards a brighter future.

Here at Trifecta Health New York we know just how difficult life can be when you are dealing with a variety of different problems, and under the watchful and professional eye of Dr Edward Fruitman MD, we offer a range of services and support to individuals.

Of course the initial reaching out for help part of the deal is probably the hardest, but it’s important to realize that asking for help is not a failing, it’s actually an incredibly strong and brave thing to do. The first step is always the hardest, but the good news is that from there the road towards recovery and maintenance is much easier and much brighter.

For instance, if you are suffering from ADD/ADHD, you might not even know how to deal with your condition, in fact, you might not even have been diagnosed. We are committed to helping our New York clients not only deal with the condition in a treatment way, but also learn the mechanisms and methods to live with the condition successfully, both for the individual and the friends and family involved too.

On the flip-side, if you are one of the countless individuals suffering with depression and anxiety, you might feel that you simply have to face it alone, but that’s really not the case! We recognize that this is a condition where one size certainly doesn’t fit all, and we offer a range of treatment and cognitive therapy options to help you conquer the condition once and for all.

Maybe you have been struggling with substance and alcohol addiction for some time, and you feel you want help, but you simply can’t bring yourself to ask for it. The first step in this case will certainly be the hardest, but find the strength to reach out and you will be rewarded with help, support, and the very real possibility of a brighter future as a result. Equally, if you have suffered with your weight for a long time, having tried a range of different avenues that haven’t worked, and you’ve found your self confidence and body image disappearing down the drain as a result, we offer support and treatment for such problems, meaning you can finally learn to love the image you see in the mirror, as well as finding renewed, positive confidence within yourself too.

This Christmas time, why not look deep within yourself and face your problems. Yes, it’s a hard road, but it is probably going to be the best decision you ever make, as well as the best journey also. Give a call to Trifecta Health Clinic to find top NYC Psychiatrist.

Boost your overall happiness at Trifecta!

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Here at Trifecta Health we are dedicated to helping the residents of New York City beat a variety of different health-related issues, putting a smile back on their face and boosting overall happiness.

Let Trifecta Health Help Kick-Start Your New Year in The Best Possible Way!

New Year can be one of two things – it can either be a happy time of joy and positivity, or it can be a depressing time, when the year’s upsets and disappointments come back to haunt us. For those suffering with issues such as depression and anxiety, for instance, this can all add up to a very less than celebratory mood.

It is very important to stay positive, no matter what is happening in your life , like a character of great book about struggles and victories “From Rags to Riches” by Irene Inker. Of course, life is certainly too short to be anything but happy, however if you tell that to someone who simply can’t find it in themselves to raise a smile, you’re not going to get the reaction you were hoping for.

Do You Need Help?

There are many different issues in life which can affect our self-esteem, happiness, and our overall mood, and whilst for most people this is simply a passing phase, a feeling, for others it can be something much more serious than that. If a feeling plagues your life and drags you down, should you cope with it, or should you try and beat it?

Of course, you should try and beat it, and that first step, that first admission, is the key to your successful journey.

Here at Trifecta Health we offer a range of services to our clients, all under the expert eye of top NYC Psychiatrist Dr Edward Fruitman MD. Many of our treatment options and services are holistic and many of them are revolutionary, giving you an option when other areas don’t seem to have worked in the past. For example, if you have battled with depression and you have found that regular medication and cognitive therapy methods haven’t worked for you, we offer a few other routes to try, such as TMS therapy, Ketamine treatment, and Botox for depression.

Of course, it may not be depression that is your issue, it could be something completely different, such as substance and alcohol addiction issues, or it could be weight management problems. If you are suffering from ADD/ADHD, or you are the partner or family member of someone who is, we offer a variety of different treatment options and advice routes for you too.

Make This Year The Year You Make a Change

All too often we are told to ‘keep calm and carry on’, but why should you go through life battling a problem that you simply don’t have to battle with? The biggest step, and the bravest step, you will make is reaching out and asking for help. While it might not be smooth sailing completely from that point on, it is the hardest part of the deal – if you are brave enough to do that, can you imagine what else you can conquer?

Make the upcoming New Year the time you make that change in your life, and look forward to a happier and brighter future. Call Trifecta today at (800) 385-3905

Ketamine – Fast, Effective Relief for Depression Sufferers

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Depression is an unpredictable and highly unpleasant beast, and one which often doesn’t follow a set pattern in terms of treatment and response. What works for one person, often doesn’t work for another, and that leaves sufferers in a quandary on where to go next.

Depression is considered to be down to a change in activity levels of neurotransmitters, usually Serotonin, Norepinephrine, and Dopamine. These are the three main neurotransmitters which are responsible for mood and how a person really feels; when there is a reduction or change in production, this can lead a person to feel low, down, and then depression sets in, taking things further downwards. Here at Trifecta Health NYC we are committed to helping our clients in their endeavors to win their battle with depression, paving the way to a brighter future.

The main treatment option for depression is down to anti-depressant medication, but this can often come with unpleasant side effects, or basically doesn’t work for certain people. One next step is the use of Ketamine to help with depression symptoms.

Under the watchful eye of highly skilled Dr Edward Fruitman, MD, here at Trifecta Health we understand that any treatment of this kind can be upsetting, but all our New York clients go through an in-depth consultation appointment, to identify the best treatment option for them. If Ketamine is thought to be a way forward, a series of tests will be undertaken, to check for any contraindications, before a testing injection is given, to give the patient peace of mind when it comes to any adverse reactions. If all is well, a regular injection is then given. The actual feeling of Ketamine in the system lasts for around two hours, and can leave the patient feeling a little drunk or intoxicated, but not unpleasantly so. When the patient is feeling aware and steady, they are discharged home.

How quickly does Ketamine work?

Following the initial ‘drunken’ feeling, the effects will wear off, but the improvement in depression symptoms should be evident in around 24 hours of the injection. In order to maintain this benefit, a treatment needs to be completed twice per week for the first two weeks, and then weekly. The main aim is to create a better mood and feeling for the patient, and then transfer onto a more mainstream anti-depressant medication for maintenance of symptoms thereafter.

Is Ketamine for depression safe?

Here at Trifecta Health NYC we are highly trained in treating all kinds of depression with a various field of treatment types. We test all our patients very carefully to check for any contraindications to Ketamine treatment, before deciding on the best way forward. The actual dose of Ketamine giving during a treatment is around ¼ of that given during a traditional anaesthetic, so it is actually quite small, considering the huge benefit it gives a person from their depression symptoms.

If you are struggling with depression and you feel like you’ve exhausted all your options, give us a call today at (800) 385-3905 and chat to our friendly staff about your further options. We can certainly help you towards a brighter, happier future.

Consider TMS to fight depression

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Here at Trifeca Health Center NYC we are proud to offer TMS therapy to patients who are struggling with the effects of depression, all under the watchful eye of Dr Edward Fruitman MD

Depression is not a fun deal, that’s a certainty. Anyone who has ever suffered with low mood will tell you how bad it feels, but when you step it up and suffer from full blown depression, there really doesn’t feel like any hope or light in the world at all. Winter time can be a troubling time for many, with the festive season not too far away, and the guilt of not really feeling that festive coming from nowhere. The important thing to remember here however, is that you are certainly not alone.

The first port of call when you visit the doctor suffering from this upsetting condition is usually anti-depressant medication, but that doesn’t work for everyone, and can sometimes bring about unpleasant side effects, which may be impossible to deal with. If that’s the case, where do you turn?

TMS therapy, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, as it is better known, is an FDA approved treatment for major depression, and for those who haven’t found any help from anti-depressants, or who can’t deal with the side effects.

Beating that winter feeling

Of course, simply feeling down because of the time of year is normal, but when the feelings turn into something much darker, it’s time to take action. TMS could be the answer, a downtime-free process which works to send complex magnetic pulses to the part of the brain which is responsible for altering and affecting mood.

Each session takes around half an hour, and basically involves you sitting in a chair, whilst you let our highly skilled staff work their magic. A magnetic coil will be placed at one side of your head, and will penetrate the brain with magnetic pulses, targeting the prefrontal cortex, which kicks into action your own neurotransmitters, altering cells and creating a balance. What happens then? You get up and go about your daily business, that’s what!

The number of treatments required to achieve a lasting result depends on the person, and this is something that will be discussed with you at your initial consultation. We are dedicated to helping the residents of Manhattan NYC beat their winter depression concerns, looking forward to a festive season that is packed with happy memories, rather than worries that darken such a bright and sparkly time of year.

What’s next?

If this sounds like something you would like to discuss, don’t hesitate to call our helpful and professional staff today and schedule an appointment. We know that every single person who walks through our doors is an individual, and as such as target treatment in a totally individual way too, creating a bespoke plan to suit your needs and the severity of your condition.

HCG Diet – Say Goodbye to Those Stubborn Extra Pounds

Edward Fruitman No Comments

HCG Diet in New York at Trifecta Health Medical Center

Diets are restrictive, and they are hard-work, but if you put in the effort and a single-minded approach, the results are certainly more than worth it.

Does this sound like a statement you’ve used as a mantra over recent years?

Weight loss is hard, and when you feel that you are overweight and you’re struggling to lose those extra pounds, your self-esteem can be badly damaged as a result. Your mood and everything in your life can instantly become negative, and you avoid looking in the mirror because you basically don’t like what you see.

While this is a sadness, it is a truth, but there is always a silver lining to every cloud!

Here at Trifecta Health, we are proud to offer a variety of different weight loss and weight management programs, all under the watchful eye of Dr Edward Fruitman MD, right in the heart of Downtown Manhattan NYC. No matter what your circumstances, we can help put together a program which will lead you to weight loss success, and one such diet which is very popular, and very effective, is the HCG diet.

What is The HCG Diet?

HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, and this is a hormone which naturally occurs in the bodies of pregnant woman. By undergoing this diet you are basically tricking your body into thinking you are pregnant, and that means you are going to be burning fat stores, rather than eating fat and adding to your bulk.

The diet involves injections of the HCG hormones, as well as a calorie restrictive diet; you will be consuming 500 calories per day, which although low and certainly tough to follow, has been shown to be highly effective in losing around 15-20 pounds per month. The other perk is that those stubborn areas of fat, the ones which don’t seem to want to leave us, are targeted especially, and successfully eradicated.

Is Everyone Suitable for the HCG Diet?

No. The HCG diet is very restrictive, and therefore you will need an in-depth consultation prior to beginning. If the diet isn’t suitable for you, perhaps for a medical reason, then there are many other options we can explore, putting together a bespoke weight loss program for you to follow.

You will have a series of tests before beginning the HCG diet, as well as a chat about what it involves, checking that you are very clear on how to follow it, as well as the injection schedule for the HCG hormone. Put simply, our highly trained and friendly staff will help you understand the diet, as well as being there for you every step of the way, in case of problems, difficulties, or questions.

If you are struggling with weight loss in New York, either you can’t seem to manage it alone, or you just don’t know where to start, then it’s time to pick up the phone and call us today. We are dedicated to helping the people of New York reach their weight loss targets, becoming happier and healthier as a result.

Adult ADHD in New York

Edward Fruitman No Comments

adult-adhd-nycADHD seems to be surprisingly under diagnosed in adults in New York City and thus under treated.  So many adults struggle with ADHD in silence thinking it is just them or they are doing something wrong- when in actuality there is a real issue at play that has several treatment options that can dramatically improve the quality of life experienced.

Trifecta Health in New York City is a leader in the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of ADHD in adults. So how do you know if you genuinely have ADHD?  Of course a professional evaluation is the only way to be certain but there are a few common things that adults with ADHD do:

  • Do you find yourself putting off mundane tasks like unloading the dishwasher or folding laundry until you have no clean underwear or no clean silverware?
  • Do you go online to do one thing for work or school and before you know it are sucked into endless YouTube videos?
  • Do you let your car get down to “E” and pray you can make it to the gas station?
  • Do you look forward to spending time with friends enjoying leisure activities then feel guilty because you did not accomplish your “need to do” list for the day or week?

These are common behavior traits of adults with ADHD- of course if you put off matching socks it does not mean that you have ADHD it may just mean you don’t like matching socks.  The key is when the behaviors negatively impact your personal or professional life- once behaviors do that- it is time to address them with a professional.

Trifecta Health in Manhattan NYC has many treatment options and the clinicians are experts at tailoring the treatment to the individual.  As everyone is different, everyone needs an individualized treatment plan to achieve the best results possible.

Treatment can include support groups, talk therapy, medication, and other behavior modification tools to support you as you adapt to living with ADHD.  Trifecta Health’s practitioners will work with you as an individual to find the best options for you.

Once a patient has experienced effective treatment they often cannot imagine how they managed before treatment; it truly can be life changing.

Often, people report feeling better about themselves, improved performance at work, less stress at home and reduced feelings of depression.  So often people with ADHD blame themselves and think it is their fault- that they are just lazy failing to realize that there is a genuine issue to be addressed.

Call Trifecta Health at (212) 233-2830 to arrange and appointment with one of our highly trained and experienced clinicians if you are at all concerned about adult ADHD.

How Adult ADHD affect your relationship and how to manage it

Relationships, in which one of the partners has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, can bring the worst of times together.  So, if you feel pain and anger in your relationship, is time to wonder more deeply about the cause of that behavior or negative thoughts.

The primarily step in this manner, will be to identify symptoms and the cause of the problems. Most of time the partner without the symptoms suffer the most in that relationship.

If your partner has ADD/ ADHD, you may feel ignored and lonely. While they try to manage their social life and all the frustrations from it, you will feel pain and disagreement between two of you. If the case of cause is that both partners have ADD/ADHD, then your area of communication will be lacking of misunderstanding, a lot of disagreements and frustration.

If the descriptions sound familiar than your relationship are suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. They key it is to work on your symptoms of ADD/ADHD, and also ask for help in Trifecta Health Medical Center from top ADHD doctors in NYC. Another difficulty can be “walking on the egg shell” the partner will get the feeling of frustration of not meeting the expectations of partner who are suffering from ADD/ ADHD. No matter how hard you try, you can’t maintain connection of intimacy for long time.

Fortunately, that can be held if you not postponing or brush it under the carpet.  The first step is to face with that reality and understand that the treatment will benefit not just you but all the lovely people in your life.

Botox helps fight Depression

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Botox treatment is a way to boost your self-esteem and give a kick up the backside to feelings of depression

botox and depression

Trifecta Health and NYC psychiatrist Dr. Edward Fruitman, M.D. is positive that Botox  treatment in NYC helps with depression symptoms.

Feeling down, low, or helpless may all be varying degrees of depression. Depression can be a dark place, and feelings of worthlessness and low self-esteem go cause you to feel extremely helpless.

Self-esteem can be difficult to keep under control; many things can get in the way of our confidence and prove to be detrimental to our over-all state of well-being. Thankfully, there are a few simple things we can do to help; and although they may not be the solution for everyone, they can be extremely beneficial in making us feel more confident about ourselves, as well as more positive about life in general.

One of the aspects we can improve is your appearance. Unfortunately, with time comes the dreaded signs of aging. While this is inevitable, we do have the wonder product, Botox, to help us. With the short amount of time it takes, the procedure will leave you with almost instant results, as well as the confidence to help you walk a little taller, open your eyes a little wider, and smile a little deeper.

When feeling low, our automatic response is to frown; yet when feeling happy or confident, we smile. However, frowning causes lines and wrinkles that Botox can help eradicate. In turn, you will feel more confident and smile, banishing all of those feelings of helplessness and self-doubt.

Trifecta Health Medical Center and Trifecta Med Spa welcomes anyone who is interested in improving their appearance, self-image and life style. At Trifecta Med Spa Botox injections NYC administered by Allergan® trained & certified NYC Botox doctors. We offer Botox and Xeomin injection treatments in NYC and Long Island. Botox treatment  at Trifecta Med Spa can erase crow’s feet, frown & forehead lines in days and soften your appearance, so you look younger and better refreshed without surgery and downtime.

We, at Trifecta believe that Cosmetic Botox Injections are a safe and effective method in improving appearance and looking years younger. We are ready to support our patients in any endeavor that is designed to improve their beauty, mental health, wellness and wellbeing.

ADHD Treatment Options at Trifecta Health in NYC

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Trifecta Health Medical Center and psychiatrist Edward Fruitman, M.D. offer adult ADD/ADHD treatment in New York City

Medication Treatment Option for adult ADD/ADHD

Part of ADHD treatment at Trifecta Health Medical Center involves medications prescribed to help improve the availability of brain chemicals, dopamine, and norepinephrine. These chemicals act as messengers to help control, attention, movement, and concentration. While the medications prescribed are stimulants, they actually help “calm down” a person with ADHD by allowing them to focus. These medications can safely alleviate symptoms when prescribed and taken as directed. Often the effect on productivity is profound. As these medications can be misused, Trifecta Health Medical has checks in place to ensure that these medications are being used appropriately. If misuse is a problem, Strattera is the medication of choice. Other, off label medications are Desipramine, Effexor, and Buproprion.

ADD/ADHD Counseling

Another part of ADHD treatment in NYC at Trifecta Health is developing strategies to cope with areas of difficulty. This is often done with a counselor to help identify problem areas and to come up with creative solutions to manage them. It in essence is playing to an individual’s strengths, this often involves learning how to shift responsibilities and roles, and delegating other tasks.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for treatment os ADD/ADHD

Trifecta Health Medical Center  and NYC psychiatrist Dr.Edward Fruitman also offer its clients TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is FDA approved for treatment of Depression for patients who did not respond to anti-depressant medications.  The treatment is directed toward the Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex, the part of the brain directly involved in ADHD symptoms.  While FDA approved for the treatment of ADHD, there is clinical evidence that indicates TMS for ADHD is very useful, especially if the individual experiences depression or anxiety as well as ADHD- which is common as the symptoms of ADHD can be quite frustrating and distressing.

Trifecta Health Medical Center in the Financial District of New York City is dedicated to helping clients overcome their struggles with adult ADHD by providing safe and effective care managed by an expert in the field: Edward Fruitman, MD. Trifecta Health Medical center offers a convenient location and flexible hours to fit nearly any schedule.

What is Bipolar Disorder?

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Edward Fruitman, M.D. explains What is depression.

Bipolar affective disorder which is also known as manic depressive illness, is a mental disorder. This is characterized by times of depression and times of an elevated mood. The elevated mood is known as a mania or a hypermania depending on the severity. There also depends on whether there is psychosis.

During mania a person can act abnormally happy, energetic or they can act irritable. While in a mania a person decisions may not be well thought out with a disregard to the consequences. While there are periods of depression what this may include is crying, poor eye contact with others and a negative outlook on life. There is typically a lack of sleep. The risk of suicide among those with the disorder is around 6% which is higher than the national average and self harm occurs in 30–40% of people with the disorder. Mental health issues other than bipolar can be common to go along with bipolar disorder and these can include anxiety disorder and substance use disorder are commonly associated.

The cause of bipolar disorder is not understood that clearly. The factors that play a role are environmental and genetic. Child abuse and long term stress can be two of the environmental factors that can cause bipolar disorder.

The disorder is divided into two parts. These are bipolar I disorder which is if there is at least one manic episode and bipolar II disorder is when there are at least one hypomanic episode and one major depressive episode. Other conditions that may come across in a similar manner can include substance use disorder, personality disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, as well as a number of medical conditions.

Here at Trifecta Health NYC we treat many conditions, so contact us today.

What is ADHD?

Edward Fruitman No Comments

ADHD can be characterized by multiple symptoms. Some of these symptoms can include including trouble paying attention, being easily distracted, jumping from one activity to another, procrastinating, disorganization, forgetfulness, fidgeting, talking excessively, impatience, interrupting and difficulty completing tasks. The subtypes to ADHD are inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive and combined.

What happened until recently, was that the inattentive form of ADHD, was labeled as ADD. However, now, the term ADD is no longer used and it has been combined under the banner of ADHD.

What something you need to know about the inattentive type of ADHD is that it’s often overlooked. “While these kids have organizational and attention issues, they lack hyperactivity and impulsivity, which makes their ADHD go under the radar or undetected.” This is according to a multitude of doctors in the field of ADHD. People that have the symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity have a tendency to have an earlier early diagnosis. This is because their symptoms are more pronounce and not as subtle.

Regardless of the type of ADHD a person has the treatment is the same. One way is with medication. These are typically of a simulant nature and these have a positive effect on most people. But cognitive therapy can work well as well teaching the children to organize themselves and slow down. However, teachers and parents need to learn how to manage the disorder as well.

At Trifecta Health NYC we can help you and your family with the treatment of ADHD, so contact us today.

Traveling with ADHD

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Best-ADHD-treatment-manhattanIf you or your loved one suffers from ADHD then you will be more than knowledgeable about the difficulties of this condition. Like most things in life, it can be managed, and it’s really a case of knowing the little quirks and tips you can do to make life a little easier.

Travel isn’t the simplest of situations at the best of times, and stress often leaks in to travel days, regardless of whether you suffer from ADHD or not. The key to a calmer onward journey is in being organised, however we all know that being organised isn’t something that comes that naturally to someone suffering from ADHD. It’s because of this that a little pre-planning will go a long way.

Check out these tips.

Write lists
You need to remember so much before you head away on vacation that it can lead to a meltdown. Writing lists means you’re not going to forget something, and that you can easily tick items off your list as you go. Keep a notebook by your bed, take it with you when you’re out and about, and then when something pops into your head that you don’t want to forget, simply scribble it down for later reference. It’s also important to sit down with someone and write a list of the important set things you need to do, so these can be ticked off as you go.

Packing is a nightmare – end of!
Packing is no fun regardless of your situation. Trying to figure out what you need for a certain space of time is just ridiculous, but unfortunately it’s something we have to do. Be methodical, think about what you do in the morning when you get up, e.g. you brush your teeth, you spray deodorant, you wash your face, then think of the things you used to do those actions – pack them! Running through your day in your head like this means you won’t forget something important. Again, write it all down.

If you take medication for your ADHD, or any other condition you have, make sure you have enough to last you for the duration of your trip. Pack your medications in the labelled boxes, in your hand luggage bag.

Share your ‘safe place’
If you’re travelling with a partner, family, or friends, make sure you tell them where your dedicated safe place is. You know the kind of thing I’m talking about, we always keep our passport in a particular safe place, and most of us forget where that is at some point. Share the location with a trusted person, and you won’t go far wrong.

Stay calm in stressful situations
Travel can be stressful, especially air travel when you have to stand and queue in an airport for a length of time and can easily become fidgety or restless, but try and stay as calm as possible. Distract your mind from the waiting, take your iPad or a book, something to keep your attention as much as you can, and if you come up against a situation that is stressing you out, don’t flash react to it, listen to what is being said and done first.

Whilst it’s easy to travel in essence, the ins and outs of a travel day are enough to make the calmest person scream at times. Those suffering from ADHD can find this particularly difficult but it’s certainly not something that is impossible. If you would like to discuss more about ADHD and tips to manage the condition, give us a call today at Trifecta Health NYC at (212) 233-2830.

adhd-help-nycYou might not have heard of these handy products, but for those unorganized times when keys seem to have fallen into a black hole, this is a godsend. Simply attach the tracker to your keys and use your smartphone to locate them. Losing keys and being a little unorganized is a common trait of ADHD, so this is a great, functional idea.

2. Handbag organizers/pockets
organizer-bagTrying to find something your seemingly bottomless bag is not only frustrating, but can be a challenge. We mentioned that being unorganized and losing things is one of the main problems with ADHD, but this is a gift that will not only help, but will also look pretty funky too! Coming in all different colors and patterns, simply pop this inside your handbag and organize your belongings in the pockets. Easy!

3. Rechargeable phone battery pack
adhd-gadget-nycThis is a great invention for anyone, regardless of ADHD status. Forget to charge up your phone? No problem with this small and portable battery pack, which you simply plug into your phone to give you extra charge. Most smartphones are compatible too.

4. Aqua notes
never-forget-ideasForgetfulness is another trait of ADHD, and when something pops into your mind, that you must remember, it can just as easily disappear out of your head, which causes frustration, and obviously the thing you remembered being easily forgotten. These notes stick to the shower wall and when that chore you need to remember pops into your head mid-shower, scribble it down!

5. Filofax
adhd-helping-toolBeing organized is a great plan of action when it comes to living with the effects of ADHD, and having it in a phone isn’t always so easy, especially if you run out of charge, or lose said phone! A Filofax makes it easy to organize your day, with to-do lists, and tick lists to follow. They’re also quite cute, in different colors and sizes!

6. Armchair organizer
armchair-organizerDo you find that famous black hole also extends to the remote control? The sofa cushions seem to have a habit of eating said remote, and again, we’re looking at being organized. This handy over-the-arm-of-the-chair organizer keeps your remote, phone, and anything else you want to not lose right when you can find it, in easy reach whilst you’re engrossed in a film.

You’ll notice that many of these gifts revolve around organizing life and avoiding forgetful moments. While there are many other effects of ADHD, if you can tackle these, with thoughtful and fun gifts, then you’re certainly well on the road to helping your loved one this festive season.

Doctor Edward Fruitman, M.D.Anyone suffering with ADHD, whatever the degree, will tell you the same thing – getting to grips with the symptoms and finding a happy medium to be able to manage them is a difficult thing to achieve.

Just like a problem with blood pressure or a thyroid issue, medication and ways to manage the condition all come down to a trial and error kind of situation, and in the interim, whilst things are a little unstable and up in the air, life can be difficult to say the least. The light at the end of the tunnel however is that once things are on an even keel, and you know exactly what you need to do to keep things that way, life gets better, and can stay better.

ADHD treatment NYC is at hand for those in the area who feel or suspect they may be suffering from ADHD, or for those who have struggled with symptoms for years and haven’t found a happy medium yet.

Medication, behavioral changes, coping mechanisms, understanding triggers, these are all ways to get a grip on the condition that can change a sufferer’s life so drastically.

Do you find that you often feel out of control, unorganized, you’re often late, impulsive, reckless, have a hot temper, can’t focus on one task at any one time, and become increasingly frustrated because of it? Does this cause stress and strain on your relationships, as your close love ones struggle to understand just as much as you do about what is going on? If this sums up your situation perfectly, as well as other additional symptoms and problems, then it’s certainly worth having a consultation with one of our top psychiatrists in Manhattan to determine whether you are indeed suffering with ADHD, otherwise known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

ADHD is one of those conditions that carries a stigma, something that people think only affects children, but that couldn’t be further from the truth, and a huge number of adults the world over suffer from this frustrating and often misdiagnosed condition. Whilst many go untreated because of this misdiagnosis, it’s important to seek help if you feel you may be struggling with any of the symptoms associated.

Don’t struggle for a second longer, call Trifecta Health today (212) 233-2830 for help and advice from our friendly and highly trained professionals, and look forward to a brighter, more easily managed future.

adhd-treatment-nycOur bodies change as we age, as do our needs for health and overall well-being. Research has shown that with time, the symptoms of Adult ADHD may become more severe, which can ultimately become harder to treat. However, there are many safe and effective ways one can combat this phenomenon of “age-related cognitive decline”. Starting with strict and regular monitoring of medication and treatment.

If one’s medication is not safely controlled and examined on a regular basis, one can run the risk of experiencing the negative and dangerous side effects of ADHD medications. Some of these may include; insomnia, elevated blood pressure, elevated heart rate, anxiety, depression, etc. One must check-in with their physician regularly in order to control the risk of these side effects, as these medications may be needed to control the disorder effectively. Likewise, changes in our body as we age can change our medicinal needs; either increasing or decreasing the dosage may become necessary to more effectively control the disorder. Overall, treatment will be safe and effective, if monitored regularly and observed diligently.

Furthermore, one can improve their circumstances by keeping themselves physically and mentally healthy, independently. In other words, one must remember to exercise habitually, as this will benefit both the heart and the brain. Regular exercise is said to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression, as well as ADD or ADHD. Additionally, exercise can increase focus and attention span, as the brain works to improve dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Also, one can practice cognitive stimulation, which can improve the brain’s ability to focus and problem-solve more efficiently. Examples of cognitive stimulation would include; crossword puzzles, chess, brain-strengthening games/activities, etc. These ADHD treatment options are tremendously beneficial for a healthy lifestyle, which will ultimately improve one’s ADHD and make it easier for the individual to gain control over tiresome and negative symptoms.

Lastly, it is important to remember not to let ADD or ADHD hinder your ability to live a healthy and positive lifestyle. One should continue to take part in social activities and immerse themselves in positive interpersonal relationships. Hobbies and interests should be prioritized alongside financial stability and professional/career goals. With the right treatment plan, and a monitored and healthy life-style, ADHD does not have to get in the way of your life, no matter how fast time flies. Live every day to the fullest, and remember to keep yourself healthy, focused and motivated!

TMS treatment in downtown Manhattan

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in NYC at Trifecta Health

TMS Therapy NYCFor a long time now, the first line of treatment for depression has always been medication. That’s all very well and good if medication work for you, but what if you’re one of the 4 million US citizens who don’t benefit from standard medications? If you fall into that group, what do you do?

You don’t have to struggle, and luckily, help is at hand, in the form of TMS therapy, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, to give it its longer and more scientific sounding name.

What is TMS?

Basically, working with magnets has been proven to give huge benefit to many who suffer from the effects of depression. Now, it’s worth bearing in mind that this doesn’t help anyone with severe depression symptoms, such as suicidal ideation, but it has been proven to be effective for many when medications have failed to work.

Basically, a magnetic current is passed into the part of the brain which has been linked with depression, mainly the frontal lobe. This magnetic current helps to stimulate the part of the brain that causes these symptoms and helps regulate and bring harmony. Repeated treatments help bring stability and long-lasting reduction in symptoms.

How many treatments are needed?

This of course is totally dependent on the person involved, but a six weeks’ course is recommended. Here at Trifecta Health Medical Center, Dr. Edward Fruitman, M.D. tailor TMS treatment plans to the individual, so an initial consultation is needed, in order to establish the best treatment target for you. On average, a six week’s course of treatment, lasting for five days per week, is the ideal.

How long does the treatment take?

Around 45 minutes, and no, you won’t feel a thing. Treatments are quick and painless, and can easily be fit into a lunch hour without causing too much upheaval for the person involved.

Does TMS work?

Obviously this depends on the individual involved, but there have been very encouraging results yielded so far, and this has been shown to be most effective in those who, as we mentioned before, haven’t responded to medication to date.

Don’t struggle with the sometimes debilitating effects of depression, not when there are fantastic treatments out there, which could certainly help beat depression back down into the box it belongs in, and even eradicate it altogether.

TMS and fibromyalgia

How magnetic therapy can help in the battle against fibromyalgia

shoulder-painFor anyone suffering with fibromyalgia, you won’t need me to explain the sometimes debilitating effects. Pain, depression, and a poor standard of life are all standard with the condition, and the rather scary statistic is that fibromyalgia affects between 6-12 million people in the US, and is the most common cause of pain overall.

Regular painkillers generally don’t work, and only dull the pain a little, which doesn’t do a lot for quality of life. Thankfully, there is a new treatment on the block that offers great results, relieving pain symptoms, as well as those that go alongside, such as depression.

TMS-Therapy-New-YorkYou may have heard of TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), which is basically a magnetic device which sends waves into specific parts of the brain. This is a non-invasive treatment that has no side effects and is totally painless. TMS has been effectively used for the treatment of depression for a long time now, however it is being developed to help in fibromyalgia patients.

For a consultation, or more information, give us a call today and discuss your needs. There is no need to suffer in silence or needlessly – life is too short.

How TMS helps depression?

Edward Fruitman No Comments

Psychiatrist Dr. Fruitman treat depression with TMS Therapy in NYC and Long Island

TMS helps depressionDepression is a scary and dark condition, and yet it’s more common than we ever realize. These days anti-depressant medications are handed out freely, but unfortunately it’s not always the best road to go down for everyone, and for some this type of treatment doesn’t work either at all, or to a desired degree.

Life doesn’t have to be so dark, and thankfully there are alternatives out there, such as relatively new treatment called TMS, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. There are an increasing number of centers in New York offering this therapy, including here at Trifecta Health Medical Center in downtown Manhattan and Hewlett Long Island, giving patients another option and a brighter future on the horizon.

So,  How TMS helps depression?

  • Is similar to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Uses precisely targeted magnetic pulses
  • Stimulates key areas of the brain that are underactive in patients with depression

TMS-New-YorkIt might sound scary, but thankfully it isn’t. The patient simply sits in a chair, similar to that at the Dentist, and a magnetic coil is placed on the head. From the outside, this is all you will know. However, on the inside, magnetic waves are being passed through to the brain, helping to rectify problems. The procedure involves no anesthetic and studies show that 30% of patients displayed a big improvement after 6 weeks, with most patients showing some degree of improvement.

Not at all scary.

On average, patients will require 6 weeks of treatment, involving 5 sessions a week. Of course, everyone varies.

Hope is out there for those suffering from this debilitating condition, and life doesn’t have to be a daily struggle if medications aren’t helping. Speak out, get help today.
